A warm welcome to new readers of The Squeak, the magazine edited and produced locally.

The Squeak will help you familiarise with and use the considerable talents, services and facilities right here within our community. Most of us prefer to shop locally whenever we can and support the small and medium sized businesses which provide the vital services in the Midlothian area.

Please give these businesses the support needed during these difficult economic times and strive to upkeep the character of our High Streets. None of us relish the prospect of empty, boarded up shops.

The Squeak’s first edition was published in December 2009 and I as editor envisage this as a forum for local people. Local items of interest, club and society news, sporting activities, photographs, recipes and a puzzle page can all be included.

If you feel you have an item worthy of inclusion, please make contact and we’ll be delighted to help. The more contributions we receive from our readers, the bigger and better a community magazine The Squeak will become.
